Gunmen kill 3 vigilantes in Kogi

The leader of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Ankpa LGA of Kogi State, Abu Welder, and two of his men have been killed by gunmen.

The gunmen were said to have on Saturday trailed the vigilantes to a place around White House, near the Ankpa Township Stadium, at about 7pm and opened fire on their vehicle, killing them on the spot.

Ismail Adejo, a youth leader in Ankpa, said, “The hoodlums trailed Abu welder, two of his boys and one other person and opened fire on them. The fourth person was a man who came to register a complaint.”

The state police command’s spokesman, SP Williams Aya, did not respond to a call and a text message on the incident.
