Gunmen kill 3, abduct 5 girls, vigilante in Jalingo

Gunmen have attacked Jalingo, Taraba state capital, killed three people and abducted five girls and a vigilante leader.

The killings and abductions occurred between Saturday and Tuesday night at different locations in the metropolis.

Daily Trust learnt that a civilian and a policeman were killed at Lasandi and Sabon Gari respectively.

Also, the gunmen abducted the vigilante leader, simply identified as Bashir, and five girls at about 1am at Saminaka Junction on Tuesday night.

Findings showed that the area is located on the route of bandits based at Kwando Forest in Ardo-Kola LGA.

Findings further revealed that more than 20 persons have been abducted and four, including the Chairman of Ardo-Kola LGA killed in the last few months.

Residents said everyone in Jalingo was living in fear because of the high rate of attacks by the gunmen.

The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Usman Abdullahi, could not be reached for comment on the incident as he was said to be in Saudi Arabia.
