Gunmen kill 2 community leaders in Kaduna

Suspected bandits have invaded Kawaran Rafi village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed one Danleeman Isah

Suspected bandits invaded Kawaran Rafi village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed one Danleeman Isah, the Chief Imam of the village.
Daily Trust gathered that the bandits stormed the deceased’s residence in what appeared to be a pre-meditated murder, shot him dead and left the location without taking any item or hostage.
It was gathered that the murder of the cleric is linked to his vocal stance against the killing and kidnapping of citizenry by bandits in the area.
Similarly, suspected kidnappers have murdered the Sarkin Yaki of Godogodo, Mr Yohanna Abu.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the killing of the two community leaders.
He said the incident have been reported to the government by the security agencies working in the state.
According to him, the gunmen attacked Nisama village in Jema’a Local Government Area late Friday night, and abducted Mr Abu along with another resident Mr Charles Audu.
He said a struggle ensued between the duo and the kidnappers, and while Mr Audu was able to escape, the kidnappers shot Mr Abu dead.
Aruwan said five persons have been arrested in connection with the killing, as security agencies continue to investigate the incident.
He said Governor Nasir El-Rufai had expressed sadness at both reports, praying for the repose of the souls of the slain cleric and community leader, as he conveyed his heartfelt condolences to their families.
