Gunmen kill 12 in Zamfara

Gunmen suspected to be cattle rustlers yesterday killed at least 12 people in an attack on Kwanar Dutse village in Maru LGA area of Zamfara State.
Witnesses said the gunmen arrived on motorbikes, firing at residents as they took an unspecified number of cows into the forest.
When they arrived, they warned residents to keep off as they went from one compound to the other, seizing livestock, a resident, Bello Kabiru said.
He said they also fired gunshots into the air, challenging vigilantes to come out and fight. Police spokesman, DSP Sanusi Amiru, said a team of security operatives had been dispatched to the area and were on the trail of the attackers.
