Gunmen numbering on Tuesday night killed one person and abducted eight others at Extension 2 Relocation along Arab Road in the Kubwa area of Abuja.
It was gathered that the attackers shot two males, with one dying on the spot and the other rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital.
A resident, who simply gave his name as Kingsley, said an ex-corps member, simply identified as Adenike, was among those kidnapped.
He said the gunmen shot sporadically on Amilomania Street and later moved to Toyin Street.

He further said, “Seven others were kidnapped alongside Adenike, but two others, including a POS operator, who were earlier picked by the gunmen, escaped.
“They shot dead a tailor, popularly known as Oshodi, and they also shot another male, but we have taken him to the Kubwa General Hospital.
In a chat with our reporter, the POS operator said four of the gunmen held strong weapons while three were with machetes and that they were all dressed in black.
On how he escaped, he said, “A pastor from the same street came to greet me in my shop. We decided to go home together before we were abducted by the gunmen, but I escaped when we were climbing the hill.”
Confirming the attack, police spokesperson of the FCT, DSP Josephine Adeh, in a statement, said, “Investigation revealed that at about 1930hrs of December 6, 2022, armed criminals came into the Kubwa Relocation Estate, shot two victims, one Oshodi, and another, Abdulwahab.
“The suspects, while departing the scene, left with four victims, possibly to enable them evade arrest by the approaching police response team deployed to the area on quick intervention.
“The two gunshot victims were rushed to the hospital, but one of them, Oshodi, was confirmed dead by a doctor, while Abdulwahab is still being attended to.”
In a similar development, Mrs Rose Bassey, a former Accountant General of Cross River State, was abducted on Tuesday along with three others at the Uyanga axis on the Calabar-Ogoja highway.
It was gathered that an evangelist in the state, Edim Edim Omin, was shot during the process and is said to be receiving treatment in a hospital in the state.
Spokesperson of the police in the state, SP Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident and said the command was working to see that the four abducted persons were released unharmed.
