Gunmen kidnap woman after collecting husband’s death benefits in Niger

Police in Niger State have arrested the kidnappers suspected to have abducted a woman in Maikunkele, Bosso LGA after she was paid her husband’s death benefits.

 Parading the suspects, the spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspects were arrested on September 26.

 He gave the names of the suspects as Musa Nagoma (30),  Sa’adu Abubakar (30), Musa Adamu (30), all of Gidan-Mangoro, and  Gambo Muhammed (30) of Maikunkele and Ibrahim Muhammed Gomna (31) of Beji. 

 Abiodun said Musa Nagoma confessed to the kidnap of a woman and her daughter at senior quarters Maikunkele who just collected her husband’s death benefits, in which a ransom of N1.5 million naira was collected before being released.

 He said during the investigation, Musa Nagoma also confessed that he was a cattle rearer for a man at Gidan-Mangoro, and because he had a problem with him, he invited others to kidnap his boss for ransom. 

 Also paraded was a 30-year-old suspected kidnapper,  Salisu Ibrahim (a.k.a Babaliya)  of Gidi-Gori, Rafi LGA, who police said had confessed to being a member of the gang that kidnapped passengers of the Niger State Transport Authority and pupils of Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School, Tegina, Rafi LGA,  in February and May 2021.
