Gunmen kidnap traditional ruler in Bayelsa

Family sources said three gunmen stormed the premises of the victim at about 2 am on Saturday and whisked him away in a waiting speedboat to an unknown destination.
 The source said: “They arrived at the residence of the traditional ruler in the early hours of Saturday. They were three in number. Two were wearing the uniform of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps while one was wearing a reflective jacket used by youth vigilante. They fired several warning shots, abducted the traditional ruler and escaped in a waiting speedboat”.
  Mr Asinim Butswat,  Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State police command, who confirmed the incident, said the operatives had launched a manhunt for the gunmen in a bid to rescue the victim.
 Also, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Aatewe, Commander of The Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, codenamed Operation Pulo Shield confirmed the incident and assured the people that the hoodlums would be apprehended shortly.
He said the task force received report of the incident and had activated its security network in the creeks to fish out the kidnappers.
