Gunmen kidnap housewife, attack Fulani settlement

The resident, who sought anonymity, said the kidnappers invaded his house at about 12 am through a small gate in the house.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in the early hours of Thursday abducted a housewife, Sadiya Badamasi, at the senior staff quarters in Abaji town,  Abuja.

Daily Trust learnt that the kidnappers, who were in groups launched simultaneous attacks on residents of the staff quarters and a Fulani settlement at Kekeshi in the area.

The resident, who sought anonymity, said the kidnappers invaded his house at about 12 am through a small gate in the house.

He said the kidnappers shot in different directions to deter security agents and vigilante members from engaging them.

He said they destroyed the burglary proof on the window with bullets before abducting the woman, while the husband and children hid in the toilet. Bullet shells littered the compound of the victim’s house when our reporter visited.

It was gathered that men of the Department of State Security Service (DSSS) who reside only meters away from the scene did not respond to the attack.

Daily Trust, reliably gathered that the kidnappers struck after they got information that vigilantes at the senior staff quarters had withdrawn due to non-payment of their monthly stipend by the residents.

Another resident, who also preferred anonymity, said vigilantes engaged the kidnappers in a shoot out at the Fulani settlement, forcing the kidnappers them to flee.

“They didn’t succeed when they invaded a Fulani settlement at Kekeshi,” he said.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, said she would get back to our reporter but didn’t at the time of filing this report.
