No fewer than eight persons were as of Sunday night forcefully abducted at gunpoint by unknown persons in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
One of the abductees is a director in the civil service commission, Mr Ani Oku Ita, from Odukpani Local Government Area (LGA).

Early last week, five persons were similarly abducted after a medical doctor Dr Godwin Udo who kidnapped in his house was released by his abductors after the payment of undisclosed ransom.
One Miss Faith was also kidnapped in her house.
Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Irene Ugbo said they were working with other security agencies to get the kidnapped victims released.
Mr Ita was kidnaped from his house on Academy street, off Target road, Calabar South, 7pm on Sunday and driven away by the kidnappers in his car.
