Kidnappers have abducted a farmer, Musa Ma’aji, and carted away foodstuff in Gafere village, near Gaube in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).The nation’s capital has been a hotbed of kidnapping recently, with as many as 30 people abducted in the last one month.
A resident of the community, simply identified as Yakubu, said the incident happened on Sunday night when the kidnappers invaded the community and shot sporadically to scare residents away.He said the kidnappers, who were carrying weapons positioned themselves at strategic places before other gang members attacked the victim’s house.
He said they went straight to his bedroom and whisked him away at gunpoint, adding that the kidnappers also took away foodstuffs from the house.“In fact, other members of the gang also burgled some shops in the village and stole foodstuffs and provisions before they left with their victim,” he said.Our reporter learnt that the man, who is a renowned farmer, was said to have just returned from the market where sold come farm produce.The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, did not pick calls or replied to a text message sent to her phone at the time of filing this report.
