Police orderly shot dead as gunmen abduct expatriate in Edo

Gunmen suspected to kidnappers on Monday evening reportedly kidnapped an expatriate working with a construction company in Edo state.

It was gathered that the gunmen killed his Police orderly before kidnapping him and that the victim working with Hartland construction company was supervising the construction of the  Idegu-Awain road in Etsako West local government of the state when he was kidnapped.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen emerged from the bush and started shooting sporadically, killing the police orderly in order to gain access to their victim and fled into the bush afterwards.

Reports state that the Police arrived later to evacuate the corpse to the mortuary.

A source in the community said the local vigilantes were currently combing the bushes in the area in search of the abducted expatriate.

When contacted, the state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Kongtons Bello, said he was yet to be briefed on the issue and promised to give an update later.
