Gunmen kidnap district head in Kwali village

There was tension after some gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, in the wee hours of yesterday, abducted the district head of Pai community, Alhaji Nuhu Halilu Pai, in Kwali Area Council of Abuja.
A resident of the community, Malam Idris Mohammed Bida, who was also attacked by the gunmen, said the incident happened about 1:15a.m.
He said over 10 gunmen, wielding A-K 47 rifles, invaded the community.
Recounting his ordeal, he said he was sleeping with one of his sons in his room when he heard a knock on his door and someone shouting his name. This was followed by sound of gunshot.
Bida said when he opened the door, the gunmen attacked him with cutlass and collected money from him.
He said the gunmen, who divided themselves into two groups, went to the apartment of the district head and whisked him away.
“The gunmen divided themselves into two groups. One of the groups went to the district head’s apartment. They met children sleeping in the palour and they asked where the chief was. The district head decided to come out when he heard the voices. They immediately kidnapped him,” he said.
