Gunmen have kidnapped two daughters of the late Chief Emiola Adesina, a Director of Sports in the old Western State and proprietor of a group of schools, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
A close associate of the family and former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Communication, Professor Tunji Olaopa, stated in a short message he made available to reporters yesterday that the victims, Omobola Adepoju and Abiola Olukotun, were abducted along the Ife-Ibadan expressway on Monday.
Olaopa told reporters that the abductors had got in touch with the Adesina family and were demanding a ransom of N100 million.
He said, “Pastor (Mrs) Omobola Adepoju and Mrs Abiola Olukotun are daughters of late Chief Emiola Adesina, Director of Sports, old Western State and proprietor of Subuola Nursery/Primary School, Ibadan, whose funeral held a week ago.
“Omobola came in from Atlanta and was with her sister in her farm at a location on Ife road in Ibadan, where they were both kidnapped.”
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirming the incident yesterday in a telephone conversation with reporters, said police operatives that included an Anti-Kidnap team and a Special Anti-Robbery Squad were already at the kidnap environment to rescue the women.
