Gunmen kidnap cleric, brother conveying imam’s corpse for burial

Kidnappers have reportedly abducted an Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi, and his younger brother at Oshokoshoko, along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road in Kogi State

They are demanding N10m as ransom.

City & Crime gathered that the cleric and others ran into the hoodlums in the early hours of Sunday when they were conveying the corpse of the Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja to Ayegunle Gbede for burial.

A source close to the family said the kidnappers on Monday morning called to demand N10 ransom.

The state security adviser, Commodore Jerry Omadara, confirmed the incident, saying security operatives were on their trail.

The state police command’s spokesman, SP William Aya, did not respond to a text message sent to him on the incident.
