Catholic priest of St Anthony’s Parish in Angware community, Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev James Kantoma, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
It was gathered that he was abducted at his house in the community by the gunmen on Monday morning. Kantoma is the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the council area.

Our correspondent also learnt that some youths in the area, who were alerted, tried to stop the gunmen but were unsuccessful.
They reportedly chased the kidnappers into the bush but the gunmen started shooting which made them to retreat.
Confirming the incident, the state Chairman of CAN, Polycarp Lubo, said the abduction of the cleric was unfortunate, pointing out that since the gunmen abducted the Reverend Father, nothing has been heard from him or his abductors.
He said the community as well as the Christian body are earnestly praying for his safe return.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Plateau State Command, Alabo Alfred, said the police were combing the bush to ensure the Victim’s release.
