Gunmen attack suspended Edo PDP lawmaker

Daily Trust gathered that the lawmaker is currently receiving medical attention at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
A close member of his family, who pleaded anonymity, told journalists that the injuries sustained by the suspended lawmaker were severe and that he may be flown abroad for proper treatment.
The lawmaker was suspended by the leadership of the state House of Assembly in June when he defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP.
Edo State Commissioner of Police, Folusho Adebanjo, confirmed the attack. He told newsmen that he visited the  lawmaker in hospital and that some arrests have been made.
He added that the culprits will be brought to book, no matter how highly placed.
He wondered why such an incident would occur in the state, despite series of warning to politicians not to overheat the polity.
