Gunmen in seven vehicles stormed the new Nnewi Police Area Command police station and carted away arms.
According to a source, the armed men came in and started shooting sporadically for over an hour.

The shootings between suspected unknown gunmen and police at Nnewi Police Area Command on Monday afternoon caused pandemonium amongst the residents of the community.
Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen came in about seven vehicles to the police station and started shooting which lasted for over one hour.
An eyewitness who would not like his name on print said the gunmen overpowered the police and carted away arms.
According to the source, by the time a reinforcement came from the Navy arrived, the attackers had left even though it was gathered that they were pursued.
When contacted, the police spokesman, Anambra State Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, he said his office had not received any report on the incident.
