Gunmen attack ex-militant leader in Bayelsa

Some unidentified gunmen have attacked the residence of Eris Paul, an ex-militant leader also known as Ogunbos, at his country home in Peremabiri Community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

They razed down his mansion including other properties.

According to reports, the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday being Christmas day, 25th of December 2020.

The armed men stormed the community in speedboats, shooting sporadically before setting buildings on fire.

A close family member to Ogunbos said he was attending a burial in the community when the community was attacked.

He said: “Ogunbos is still in the community, doing fine, only that some properties were destroyed.”

Confirming the incident, the police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, saying that normalcy had been restored and no life was lost but several property were damaged.
