Scores of passengers were reportedly abducted after bandits opened fire on an 18-seater commercial bus at Bishini Junction, near Katari in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
A resident of Katari, Saleh Ibrahim, said the incident around 9pm on Monday when the bandits emerged from the bush at a sharp bend and opened fire at the bus conveying passengers from Abuja to Kaduna.
He said the bandits shot and deflated the tyres of the bus which forced the bus to veer off the highway into the bush, before they led all the passengers on board into the forest.
He further said that passengers from two other vehicles were also whisked away by the bandits.

He added that, “The annoying part of it is that the scene where the incident happened from Bishini Junction to where soldiers mounted their road block is about one kilometer.”
The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, was yet to confirm the incident as calls put across to him were not answered.
