Some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted passengers of a commercial bus at Akere junction along Osu/Ife express road.

The number of travellers abducted is not known yet.

The wife of one of the victims, Mrs Rebecca Okunade, told the police that she received a distress call from her husband, Mr Yinka Okunada, who informed her when they were attacked.

She explained that her husband told her that the gunmen stopped the bus at Akere junction and that they needed the help of security men.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, told our correspondent that policemen have been deployed to the area to rescue the victims.

She said hunters and local vigilantes would support the policemen in the rescue operation.

Opalola assured that the victims would be rescued unhurt.
