Gunmen abduct RIFAN scribe, demand N50m ransom

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the Secretary of Taraba State Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Alhaji Mamman Rabiu.

The gunmen stormed his residence in Jalingo, the state capital at about 2am on Friday and abducted him.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen numbering about 10, surrounded the area where Rabiu resides and four of the gunmen forced their way  into his house.

Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that the kidnappers had contacted the victim’s family and demanded N50 million ransoms.

Negotiation is still on between Rabiu family and the kidnappers as at the time of filing this report.

Rabiu is the second official of rice farmers’ association in the state to be abducted in the last one year.

The spokesman of the Taraba Police Command, DSP David Misal could not be reach  for comment on the incident as his line was switched off when our reporter called.
