Armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, have attacked Monduva community, in Mubi South Local Government Area in Adamawa State, abducting a pregnant woman along with her eight-years-old daughter.
The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday in the area, located just few kilometres away from the Nigerian boundary with Cameroon.
A source in the community told our reporter that the gunmen, numbering five, had earlier stormed the compound of a community leader, one Alhaji Yusuf Monduva and went directly to his room’s entrance, pretending to be his guests from Marwa, a town in Cameroon.
“The elderly man pleaded with them to pass their night at the room’s veranda as he could not afford to meet them at the lonely hours, since he was not expecting any guest.
“They immediately started shooting into the room’s direction for some time. A bullet hit the man on one of his legs. He is currently receiving treatment for the injury at the Mubi General Hospital”, the source explained.
It was learnt that the gunmen thereafter, picked the man’s son and left.
“But the boy escaped along the way and that was what annoyed them. They then returned to abduct the escaped man’s pregnant wife, along with his 8 years old daughter”, said a source.
Daily Trust gathered that no ransom demanded yet.
