Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The youth leader, Olamilekan Okunuga, was said to have been kidnapped on his way from Ibadan, Oyo State, along Ogere axis.
The hoodlums reportedly laid ambush and accosted the victim’s car as he drove from Ibadan.
Sources told our correspondent that the car was abandoned by the roadside, while the kidnappers whisked him away into the forest.
The State Chairman of the NYCN, Abduljabar Ayelaagbe, confirmed the incident on Sunday in Abeokuta, saying the incident happened last Thursday.
According to him, the kidnappers were currently demanding a ransom of N30million before Okunuga could be released.
“Our coordinator at Odogbolu Local Government was kidnapped about two or three days around Ogere in Ogun State. He went to Ibadan, but on his return, he was abducted by the kidnappers,” he said.
The NYCN Chairman appealed to the police and other security agencies in the state to rescue the abductee unhurt.
The Police Spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, when contacted on Sunday, neither confirmed nor denied the incident.
He, however, promised to get back to our correspondent but has not done so, up till the time of filing this report yester night.
