Gunmen abduct Birnin Gwari District Head

Suspected bandits on Wednesday abducted the District Head of Birnin Gwari Central, Alhaji Abubakar Yahaya, along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.

The bandits also abducted a former education secretary identified as Ibrahim Musa popularly known as Ibrahim ES.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident took place around 12pm at a location along the highway called Labi.

A source in Birnin Gwari who does not want his name in print told Daily Trust that the district head and the former education secretary were travelling in same vehicle when they ran into the bandits.

“They were both travelling in the same vehicle when the bandits attacked them and took away the district head and the former education secretary, which has thrown the town into confusion,” he said.

‎Daily Trust also gathered that in recent weeks, cases of kidnapping have lapsed due to a pact between the bandits and the community.

When contacted the State Command Public Relations officer. DSP Yakubu Sabo. said he will find out details from the area before making comments.
