The father of the chairman of Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa state, Wellington Magbisa, has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
According to a witness, the kidnappers numbering about seven and heavily armed stormed Magbisa’s home at Mile 2 in Sagbama town, breaking into his residence and forcefully took him away.
He said the incident occurred around midnight on Sunday dawn, saying up till now, the whereabouts of the abducted politician’s father is not known.
Confirming the incident, the Police spokesman in the state, DSP Asinim Butswat, said the abductors gained entrance via an unprotected window and whisked away their victim.
He said: “Five men came in through an unprotected window, captured him and escaped through the water ways.
“All sister agencies have been detailed to rescue the victim and also arrest the captors.”
