Armed men suspected to be kidnappers have abducted 12 people at Ugya village in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State.
One of the villagers, Saidu Yahaya, said the incident happened on Thursday, when the gunmen rounded up the victims who were loading charcoal onto a pickup van at a farm.
He said the gunmen, who whisked away the victims at gunpoint, are demanding N12.6 million as ransom.
“Three days ago, the leader of the gunmen called and demanded N12.6 million ransom but the families of the victims are still appealing to them to reduce the amount,” he said.

“But I learnt that the LG council authorities have already swung into action by deploying vigilantes into the forest to trace their camp and see how the victims can be rescued,” he said.
The chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdullahi Tashas, was yet to pick up calls put across to him on the incident.
