Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been accused of “sucking the football” out of Jack Grealish, as fans wish for the Aston Villa version again.
Following City’s 2-0 Champions League loss to Juventus on Wednesday, StatMuse FC tweeted that the 29-year-old is goalless in 44 straight games for the Manchester outfit.
That led football supporters to accuse coach Guardiola of ruining the England international and that they want the “Aston Villa Grealish” back playing again.
@UtdPride wrote on X: “Total Example “The coach killed his career.” Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish were never meant to happen.”
@johnathonpacino tweeted: “My goodness. That’s a shocker stat. And only three years ago, Grealish was being hailed as England’s next David Beckham. To be fair to him though. Guardiola has ruined him. Playing him out wide left, when he’s a roaming midfielder.”
@TheEuropeanLad commented: “0 goals in Jack Grealish’ last 44 games for Manchester City. One of those footballers where all the football has been sucked out of him, all that’s left is backwards passing and holding possession. I miss the Aston Villa Grealish.”
@eemz_em put: “Don’t be shy to say it, Pep Guardiola style has ruined him. Jack Grealish’s strength at Aston Villa was ball carrying, driving at defenders and dribbling. Pep bought him knowing well his team doesn’t take risks to lose ball possession. Grealish doesn’t take risks anymore now.”
