Guard jailed 6 months for stealing employer’s property

A security guard, Mukatre Mustapha (23), has been sentenced to six months in prison by an area court sitting in Kado, Abuja, for stealing items owned by his employer, Khadijat Abubakar.

The Judge, Muhammad Adamu Wakili, convicted him for burglary and theft by servant contrary to Sections 347 & 289 of the Penal Code and sentenced him to three months in prison on each of the offences with an option of N10,000 fine each.

Earlier, the prosecutor, DSP Stanley Nwanfor, told the court that the defendant on February 21, 2023, at about 5pm burgled the house of the complainant and stole items such as iPad, laptops, umbrella, shoes, clothes and cash.
