A security guard, Nuradeen Shehu, with the Prestige International College on Danmusa Street in Gadon Kaya in Gwale LGA has reportedly committed suicide in a classroom.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Hussaini Gumel, who confirmed the incident, said that on the morning of January 28, one Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki brought a report that a security guard at the college was found motionless after he hanged himself with rope in a classroom.
He explained that a team of policemen were at the scene and forcefully unlocked the door, cut the rope and rushed the body to the Murtala Muhammed General Hospital where a medical doctor confirmed him dead, adding that the corpse was released to his family.
It was learnt that the victim killed himself after realising that his ex-wife had remarried.

Similarly, a 17-year-old almajiri, Idris Nasiru, reportedly committed suicide in Tudun Wada LGA.
The late Nasiru, was a student of Malam Shuaibu Tsangaya in Tudun Wada. His motionless body was found hanging in an uncompleted building in the area on January 22, 2024.
The District Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Bako Alu, who confirmed the development, disclosed that an investigation had commenced into the incident.
The Zonal Information Officer of Rano Zone, Nasiru Habu Faragai, said, “The news was announced in a report delivered before the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, at his palace.
Alhaji Bako Alu, representing the office of Wakilin Sarkin Rano in Tudun Wada LGA, said, “Nasiru’s teacher, Malam Ayuba Sha’aibu, made the discovery after searching for the missing boy and tracing him to the uncompleted building. Sha’aibu immediately notified the Village Head of Tudun Wada and the police.”
“Adding to the mystery, authorities apprehended another Almajiri boy named Nura, a friend of Nasiru who was also 17 year old. Nura had recently reconciled with Nasiru, prompting suspicion over his potential involvement. The police are currently interrogating him in connection with the tragedy.”
