Groups comprising youth, women, students and political supporters from Kogi West Senatorial district yesterday held a peaceful protest to demand for the release of the Administrator of Ijumu local government area, Taofiq Isah, who has been in detention over the alleged assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye.
The groups, who converged on the Kabba Township, expressed concerns the ‘continued detention’ of their son and leader without being charged to court.
Speaking, leader of the Kogi Integrity Group, Barrister Zaccheus Dare, called on the Inspector-General of Police to charge Taofiq to court without further delay to decide the matter rather than ‘keeping him perpetually in custody,’ thus violating his fundamental human rights.
