A Socio-cultural group Arewarmu Duniyarmu has called on Presidential candidates in the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

It also admonished youths and other supporters to celebrate their victory peacefully.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna National Secretary of the group, Isah Sulaiman Darma, said that the major players in the Presidential election President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar are all respected northerners.

“Whoever wins in the general election is our own. We, therefore, appeal to them to understand that power comes from God; He gives it to whoever He chooses. We call on all contestants to accept in good faith the outcome of the election and all winners should be magnanimous in their victory.”

Darma said that party supporters, especially youths, should desist from any form of provocations of supporters of the losing candidate after declaration of results and should  conduct themselves in a peaceful manner.

“You should celebrate the victories of the candidate of your choice peacefully devoid of any rancour or resentment.”

“We call on all political party candidates, supporters, electorate and general public to remember that we have no any other country than Nigeria, therefore we should shun all forms political violence, thuggery and anything that is capable of disrupting the peaceful coexistence of our land.

We are concerned about the 2019 election and appealed to all stakeholders to play according to the rules and regulations of the Electoral Act.”
