The call was  made by a group known as Anambra Patriotic Group,  APG at the end of its meeting in Abuja to review the current situation of the party and its chances of winning the 2010 gubernatorial elections in the state. The meeting, which also discussed the activities of  other political parties in the state such as the AC,PPA and the APGA,  accused the opposition parties of “doing everything within their power to infiltrate the PDP at all levels and destabilise the party with internal crises while they fine-tuned their strategies to win the state gubernatorial elections”.

The group also noted that “the constitutional dissolution of Senator Ahmadu Ali led administration of PDP in 2007 made defunct every structure of the PDP at all levels in Nigeria, including Anambra state. It, therefore, follows that any recognition given to any executive which existed prior to Prince Ogbulafor-led administration could not be said to be legitimate and acceptable.”

The meeting, which was attended by members and non members of the forum and chaired by Senator Ebenezer Ikeyina, also submitted that  the party’s national working committee’s decision to cede the party’s leadership in the state to Uche Emordi-led executive had generated irreconcilable positions  which includes the claim that the process that brought Uche Emordi’s-led executive is “constitutionally flawed  as it would amount to resurrecting a tenure that is not recognised by the party’s constitution.”
