A political group, Amalgamated North East Consultative Forum (ANECF) has called on the leadership of the APC to allow senators from the region to choose a candidate for the presidency of the 9th Senate.
The group, which was rooting for Sen. Danjuma Goje to become the next senate president, made the call yesterday at a meeting in Bauchi.
The convener of the group, Barr. Muslim Maigari, said since the party had zoned the senate presidency to the North East, the senators and other APC stakeholders from the area should be allowed to select a consensus candidate.
The group said although it was a wise decision for the party to zone the major leadership positions to geo-political zones in order to avoid rancour and unnecessary competition, it would be better to allow internal democracy to work.
