A political group, Amalgamated North East Consultative Forum (ANECF) has called on the leadership of the APC to allow senators from the region to choose a candidate for the presidency of the 9th Senate.

The group, which was rooting for ‎Sen. Danjuma Goje to become the next senate president, made the call yesterday at a meeting in Bauchi.

The convener of the group, Barr. Muslim Maigari, said since the‎ party had zoned the senate presidency to the North East, the senators and other APC stakeholders from the area should be allowed to select a consensus candidate.

The group said although it was a wise decision for the party to zone the ‎major leadership positions to geo-political zones in order to avoid rancour and unnecessary competition, it would be better to allow internal democracy to work.
