Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN) said it has trained over 6000 youths from Edo, Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States on entrepreneurship.
The Executive Director, ERA/FoEN, Dr. Godwin Uyi Ojo, disclosed this on Wednesday, in Benin during the 3rd Youth Environmental Camp Meeting with its theme: Extraction to Education
He said the youths were developing their business models, renewable energy entrepreneurships, repairs and installation of solar gadgets and fabrication of energy saving cooking stoves.
“Since 2018, we have trained over 6000 youths and we are targeting 10,000 youths within the next four years.
“Youths must stand in the gap and see the climate change phenomenon as an opportunity to address a national problem and by channelling their efforts towards renewable energy.
The Director General, National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), Mr. Ahmed Nagode, said NAPTIN was collaborating with ERA in the training of some youths in the Niger Delta to be equipped with the requisite competence for their empowerment contribution to social responsibilities.
