Group to raise 3,000 emerging leaders in 3 yrs

School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG), a platform by a reform group, Fix Politics, said it targets raising 3,000 emerging leaders that will be interested in running for elective office before December 2023.

Fix Politics is a citizens-led movement to structurally change and innovative politics in Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world. The target includes 1,500 women and 1,500 young people.

The Executive Director of Fix Politics, Anthony Ubani who spoke during a virtual media chat, said the platform is a strategic response to the research outcomes of Dr. Oby Ezekwesili’s fellowship research at the Robert Bosch Academy in Berlin, Germany, that seeks to promoted functional democracy by empowering electorates, among others.

The interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SPPG, Mrs. Alero Otobo stated that the platform will reach out to 10,000 political leaders at the grass root through the school alumni over a decade to design curriculum that addresses empirical socio-economic challenges.

Applications for the first cohort with fee waiver and full scholarship is open since January 4, 2021 and closes today while the school session begins on March 1.

Graduates of the school are expected to start SPPG in their constituencies so as to share knowledge.

“We want leadership to become a very important discussion in the public space as we train new cadre of leaders that will have a sense of value and integrity,” she said.
