A coalition of media groups on strengthening social protection policy in Kano has urged governor Abdullahi Ganduje to sign the state draft policy to address the high poverty rate in the state.
Social protection is a system of policy statements, policy measures and programmes designed to address poverty and vulnerability throughout the life cycle.

Speaking at the group’s roundtable meeting in Kano, the Advocacy and Communication, officer Action Against Hunger, Richard Musa, said it seeks to provide benefits for children and families, maternity, unemployment, employment injury, sickness, old age, disability, survivors, as well as health protection.
