The Country Director of Rise Up, an international charity, Theresa Effa, has advised non-governmental organisations in the country to increase efforts towards acquiring advocacy and leadership skills.
She made the call in Abuja during a workshop organized by Rise Up to strengthen the capacity of 24 NGOs drawn from Nasarawa and Kaduna states.

She said doing so would enable them effectively advocate for women and girls issues and get policy and decision-makers to address challenges confronting women and girls.
Dr Onawale Aboki, a consultant to the project, said most NGOs lack basic skills in advocacy.
