In its continued efforts to tackle the activities of Sara-suka and other social vices within Jos City, the Jos Peace Vanguard (JPV) has taken a campaign against the menace to the Congo-Russia community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Benue/Plateau Trust reports that Congo-Russia has been known to be an area where criminal-minded young men and women meet to engage in different kinds of nefarious activities.

The group, in collaboration with the executive secretary of the Muslim Pilgrim Board, Sheikh Auwal Abdullahi, visited the young boys and girls in the area who are into drugs and thuggery to tell them the negative impact of drug abuse in society and on their health.
Sheikh Auwal Abdullahi appealed to them to stop taking illicit drugs or getting involved in criminal activities capable of ruining their lives. He urged them to be responsible and become leaders of tomorrow.
While calling on them to repent and live a normal life, Sheik Abdullahi also charged religious and community leaders to employ all necessary means to preach against all kinds of criminal acts within their community and be watchful over their children.
Earlier, the JPV’s Chairman, Malam Nura Alhassan told the young men and women that their visit was aimed at changing their lives for the better.
The chairman further called on individuals within Jos and its environs to provide the young men and women, especially those who have finished school, with jobs and assist those who want to continue with their education.
One of the youths, Abdurrahman Dawud, who promised to repent told our correspondent that he was into drug abuse because he was jobless after completing a diploma programme. He said, “I have realised that what we are into is not good. What they are telling us is nothing but the truth.”
