Chairman of the coalition, Jamil Mustapha, made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Media Trust Limited yesterday in Abuja.
“We are trying to get everybody involved because the issue of peace is everybody’s business, so we are trying to get everybody on board,” he said.
Ango said a survey recently carried out by the group showed that 25 conflicts have occurred in six states in northern Nigeria including Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau, Kaduna and Niger within the past 10 years resulting in the loss of about 10,000 lives and property worth billions of naira.
He said while conflicts are naturally inevitable in every human habitation, a very important aspect of it is the response which could be positive or negative, resulting in consequences of different dimensions.
“We found that 10,000 lives have been lost to conflicts in the six states, while $7.5 billion was lost in Kano alone. Kano market alone generates about $15 billion every month, so that volume of trade is now down by 50 percent, a loss of $7.5 billion,” he said.
