A coalition of Christians of northern extraction in the All Progressive Congress Thursday demanded that the position of the Deputy National Chairman, North, go to a Northern Christian.
The coalition said such zoning consideration would help to foster national unity.

It said this would also ensure religious balance and all-inclusiveness in the leadership of the APC.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the coalition’s meeting of executive committee and some select stakeholders.
The communique was signed by Chairman, Communique Drafting Committee, Prof. Doknan Sheni and Senator John Danboyi.
Ahead of the March 26 convention of the APC, the coalition has been clamouring for religious consideration in the sharing of positions of the party’s National Working Committee.
The coalition, however, demanded adherence to the party’s procedures in the election of its national officers.
