The Yala Bornoye Progressive Initiative in collaboration with the North East Development Commission have distributed food and non-food items to 700 orphans, widows and elderly persons in Buni Gari, Geidam and Yunusari communities in Yobe State.
Presenting the items in Buni Gari, Gujba Local Government Area, the Executive Director Administration of the initiative, Mustapha Adam said the gesture was part of its intervention to bring succour to vulnerable persons affected by Boko Haram insurgency.
He said the group targeted 700 vulnerable persons especially widows whose husbands were killed as result of the insurgency.
“We have identified many of them who might have gone through difficulties or are facing challenges after losing their bread winners, to support and cushion their plights,” he said.
The Chairman of council, who was represented by its secretary, Bura Alhaji Konto thanked the donors and urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items out.
Some of the beneficiaries Hajjia Bintu and Bulama Fugu thanked Yala Bornoye for the donations and pledged not to sell the items.
