A civil society coalition, Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG), has lauded the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) skill acquisition training and youth empowerment, flagged off today in Maiduguri.
The event is a specialized program and zonal intervention of the Presidency through NASENI for the northeast geopolitical zone billed to empower 100 selected youths from the local government area across the state.
Addressing newsmen at the occasion, President of CSGGG, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic described the programme as an initiative in the right direction adding that it will complement the Borno State government effort in dealing with the challenges of insurgency.
“Today, we have witness yet another effort by NASENI headed by an exceptional Nigerian, Prof. MS Haruna, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, in ameliorating the challenges of unemployment through this laudable initiative of skill acquisition training and youth empowerment on modern vulcanizing methods and its application. At the end these youths, most of them artisans who ab initio didn’t have these modern tools will now be empowered to be more professional with their trade and improve their livelihood.
“Again, we have also witnessed 500 women across the state benefit from the federal government climate change mitigation effort through NASENI’s climate action as these women have been given the smokeless and climate cook stove in support of the state resettlement program.
“This is a practical show of commitment to youth empowerment by the President Muhammmadu Buhari’s administration and I believe this will go a long way in tackling the challenges of insurgency and ameliorate the challenges of IDPs. We can only hope and pray that the beneficiaries will maximize this lifetime opportunity to change their fortune and living condition”.
