The Registrar, Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria, Dr. Dominic Abonyi, has implored a non-government organization, Grassroot Environmental Healthcare Initiative (GEHI), to engage environmental health officers who are already rooted at the grassroots, in their aim to tame the environment and make it sustainable.
The registrar, who stated this recently in Abuja when a team from the group, led by the Chairman Board of Trustees, retired Brigadier General Soyemi Sofoluwe, paid him a courtesy visit, said they also need to prove their worthwhile on the field.
Dr. Abonyi said the council was willing to encourage initiatives that promote any aspect of environmental health such as the ones enunciated in the aims and objectives of GEHI, a statement signed by the head of communication of the council, Kehinde Openibo, stated. The registrar said technical and logistics support would be given when necessary and available.
Earlier in his remarks, retired Brig-Gen. Sofoluwe said GEHI’s vision was to tame the environment and make it sustainable, thereby making it friendly for improved health and economy.
