A group, Health Empowerment and Relief Organization, has sensitized some teenagers in Rivers State on how to prevent themselves from fallen victims of rape and sexual harassment.
The Project Coordinator of the group, Otsuko Oroye, during an enlightenment and sensitization program held for schoolgirls in Port Harcourt, sensitized them on what constitute sexual abuse and how to avoid being raped or violated.

He listed rapists’ behaviours to include staring, unwelcome touching, suggestive comments, sexual exploit insults or joke; displaying of pornographic images, sending of sexually explicit email or text messages as well as indecent exposure.
“To protect yourself from rapists, don’t accept rides from strangers and do keep away from darkened doorways, parking lots, parks and open fields. Avoid deserted bus stops; they are dangerous; catch a bus with other people and go to places with friends. Don’t allow strangers to use your phone for emergencies,” he said
He advised the teenagers to always report any case of rape to people close to them for prompt actions.
