Group endorses Orji Uzor Kalu for President

The National Grassroots Movement of Nigeria has endorsed the former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for president.

At a press conference in Awka, Anambra State, the National coordinator of the group, Hon Mrs Ngozi Akaniru, appealed to Kalu to join presidential race.

Mrs Akaniru said that the movement has over 17 million members across the 36 states of the federation and Abuja.

She said that at their national conference in Awka, over 2000 delegates were in attendance, noting that the acceptance of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s candidacy across the country leaves no one in doubt.

In his speech ,the National Secretary of the Grassroots movement Hon Akataobi Clement Zango, thanked the group members for turning out en masse, assuring them that Nigerians, especially the grassroots, has decided to prevail on the former governor contest the presidency in 2023.

Akataobi, who also is a director special duty of the group said , the governor has their support and loyalty any time any day.

The National women leader, Dr Mercy Bello Abu from River State, said Nigerian women are desirous of a tested and trusted detribalised Nigerian who is capable of transforming the country .

She said Nigerians need a president who would be able to save women from killings, kidnappings, rape and other forms of criminality.

“We are grateful to Nigerian women across the thirty six States for their solidarity and support to the movement. I want to assure them that the movement would do every thing within her reach to make sure Senator Orji Uzor Kalu declare as soon as possible and we will give him our vote,” she said.
