A group under the aegis of South-East and South-South Professionals of Nigeria yesterday condemned the sack of the University of Lagos Vice Chancellor, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.
Speaking with journalists in Benin on Saturday, the group’s Chairman, Mr. Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo appealed to the federal government to wade into the crisis to save the institution’s image.

Edokpolo who frowned at the sack of the UNILAG’s VC by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr Wale Babalakin (SAN), advised government to constitute an investigative panel and accordingly make recommendations to the university’s visitor (President Buhari) for approval.
He said constitution of an investigative panel became necessary in view of allegations of alleged abuse of office leveled against the UNILAG VC, and the counter allegations of bias leveled against the Chairman of the institution Governing Council.
Edokpolo appealed to the Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF) to wade into the feud with a view to preserving the fragile peace in the academic community.
