A group, Companions for Buhari, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for throwing his weight behind the aspiration of a former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, to replace Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as national chairman of the APC.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the General Coordinator, Barrister Utum Eteng, said the president had exhibited foresight in the choice of Oshiomhole who he described as “a go getter, rugged and determined individual who is a team player and leader.”
“APC, having gone through four years of inactivity, docility and inept leadership, needs a man as firm, brash and rugged as Adams Oshiomhole whose experience as the former national leader of the Labour Congress (NLC) would matter a lot and count in his determination to reposition the ruling APC,” he said.
The group criticised the tenure of Oyegun which it said was plagued by crises.
They also commended the leadership of the APC in the South South for having the courage to convene an enlarged zonal meeting in Benin City where the candidature of Oshiomhole was confirmed and adopted.
