Group begins disbursement of inputs to 3,000 farmers

Vintor and Sons Global Enterprises has flagged off this year’s disbursement of farm inputs to 3,000 farmers in Nasarawa and the FCT through its Farmers Friends Project.

The Project Director, Mr Vincent T. Iyev, made this known in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Monday.

Mr Iyev stated that the project had widened its scope to accommodate farming communities in Taraba, Benue, Plateau, Kogi and Niger states.

He explained that the project which had been empowering farmers for the last three years provided modern farming inputs such as herbicides, fertiliser, sprayers, boots, raincoats and hand gloves to them.

He added that the project conducted training of farmers on modern farming techniques, as well as pre-seasonal training workshops through extension workers.

Speaking at the event, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof Alanana Otaki, described the feat achieved by Vintor as amazing. The commissioner who was represented by Yakubu Jama, Director Agricultural and Engineering Services, said the ministry, and indeed Nasarawa State Government, was very happy that Vintor had keyed into the agricultural policy of the state to make agriculture a big investment to alleviate the suffering of farmers, adding that Nasarawa looked forward to more investors like this.

“This is the right step in the right direction. I am assuring you that next year’s farming season, you will partner with the government to supply farm inputs to the farmers,” he said.
