Group advocates tobacco, substance abstinence clubs in schools

A Kaduna-based organisation, the Eye Opener Women and Youth Foundation, is taking the campaign against substance abuse and use of tobacco to schools as well as training recovering addicts into “recovery allies” to save lives.

The founder of the organization, Mrs Margaret Julius, who stated this at a training titled: “Training on recovery allies,” described drug abuse as a pandemic deadlier than the COVID-19.

While speaking on the need to form tobacco and substance abstinence clubs in schools and communities, Julius said: “We already have students at Federal Cooperative College, knowledgeable, and are already working. We need community leaders to work with. We want to keep every community busy and all hands must be on deck to fight this menace.”
