A Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Abuja Grassroots Advocacy Projects (AGAP), has called on area council chairmen and other stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) not to blame the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, over delays in the release of monthly allocations.
AGAP said it earlier advised the FCT Administration (FCTA) not to release allocations to the area councils because it (AGAP) believed they were bent on diverting the allocations to winning the just concluded elections.
The group said it had evidence that most of the allocations that had been given to the council chairmen had been mismanaged, adding that with the previous allocations, the chairmen were not supposed to be owing teachers the huge amount of money they were owing them which made them (teachers) go on strike.
The Chief Advocate of AGAP, Comrade Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, who commended the FCTA for listening to their advice, at a press briefing on Monday, said they had written to the minister of state that now that the elections were over for the monthly allocations to be released immediately to the chairmen.
